Being a Sexy Boss means staying true to your dreams and what you believe in no matter what others think. When you worry about what others think, you buy into their mentality and lose yourself in the process.
Women all over the globe have at one time or another bought into the mentality of what they shouldn’t or shouldn’t do. What purpose does that serve? Absolutely none!
When you think you can’t do something, guess what? It won’t happen. Is that really the way you want to live your life?
Is it your goal in life to cater to everyone around you, making them happy while you are completely miserable? No!
Your goal in life is to live your life’s purpose, not of those around you. If that makes you “difficult” or causes people to call you a bitch, so be it. Does their opinion really matter when you’re fulfilling your dreams and desires?
Women Empowering Women
In a recent article from Forbes Magazine, “Meet the League of Extraordinary Women: 60 Influencers Who are Changing the World”, women from all walks of life are featured.
The article tells various stories about how powerful women throughout the world are making big waves in third world countries by changing the views of how women are treated and viewed upon in society.
One woman who isn’t necessarily quiet about voicing her opinion is Ellen DeGeneres. When she came out as a lesbian in 1997, she changed the way we watched television and our views of the gay and lesbian community forever. To this day, she openly talks about her lifestyle and her married life with actress, Portia de Rossi.
Anyone who has watched The Ellen Show can see what a difference Ellen DeGeneres has made not only in the lives of women but also in those of the gay community and people in general. Through her show, she continuously does philanthropic work that benefits those in need.
In my own situation, I started to carve my path at 17. It was then that I decided to start investing in order to create wealth so I started a 401k account. Instead of waiting until my mid 20’s or later like most people, I decided that there was no reason for me to wait. I wanted to learn now.
When I turned 20, I took things to the next level. I wrote a check to a financial advisor and started saving 10% of my income no matter what job I worked at. In doing so, I made a decision to make a difference. I was building wealth for my future.
Even though the financial advisors commented that I was too young. I didn’t care. I did it anyway. I wanted to do it for myself and my future and it didn’t matter what they thought. What would have happened if I had listened to them and said never mind, I’ll wait until I’m older? How many other women close to my age did they stop from investing? If we wanted to invest, wasn’t our money good enough for them?
Do you think that me or Ellen DeGeneres got to where we are today by being ordinary? Or by caring what others thought of us? Of course not!
As women, we stretched ourselves. We stepped out of the boundaries that society often places upon women and did what was necessary to achieve our success.
Living Your Life’s Purpose Without Guilt
So what would have happened if we had stayed quiet like society would have expected us to? How many girls and young women would be still subject to discrimination? How many people would still be suffering without their help?
Thankfully, you’ll never know because we took action and made a point to make a difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Our actions will continue to inspire other women and it will make more people aware of the wrongful acts of those who choose to discriminate or ignore issues that negatively affect the world we live in.
You see when you don’t live the life you’re meant to, you hurt yourself and those around you. By not living your life’s purpose, you take away your power as a Sexy Boss. When you take that away, others won’t have the opportunity to feel it and they won’t be inspired to find their own power.
Instead of following the path others may have set before you, make your own. Get in the mindset of creating a plan for what you want, how you’re going to get it, and being persistent in your goals.
The only way to avoid the naysayers and those who would stand in your way is to stick to your guns. When you have a plan in place, and it’s your plan, it will be harder for people to steer you from your purpose.
Final Thoughts from a Sexy Boss
When you decide to step out and make your own path in life, you will most likely step on some toes along the way. There will be those who will those who will stand in your way, go against you, and may even call you a bitch.
That shouldn’t deter you. Remember that the more persistent you are with your personal goals, the more the voices of those people will be drowned out. Stay true to yourself and your actions will inspire you and influence those around you.
